Books
The total collection of books in the Library is over 2,25,672 vols. (as on 23/08/2016)  which includes Text Books and Reference Books. The collection includes books from the various branches of knowledge such as Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Humanities. The Text Books may be consulted within the Library or may get issued as per formalities laid down in the Library Act. These books are issued to the authorized Library Members for a certain period as per status of the Member. The Reference Books are for only consultation in the library premises and are not allowed for issue. If a Member fails to return book within the stipulated time, an overdue charges is levied against each book per day at the rate prefixed against each category of Member. 

Journals/Serials/Periodicals Collection
Journals or periodicals or serials are publications produced on a continuing basis following certain regularity of periodicity in its publications. For instance weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually, etc. There are some journals which are published irregularly also.
The LNB Library currently holds:

• 143 current periodicals (scholarly journals and popular magazines)
• 4579 Thesis/Dissertations
• 19,375 bound journals
• 21 regional and national newspapers
• 8,000+ e- journals

Government publications 
The LNB Library possesses some Government Publications which include the following:

• Census Data
• Govt. of Assam's Statistical Reports

Gandhi and Nobel Laureate Collection 
The LNB Library has a special Gandhi and Nobel Laureate Collection of about 200 vols. which is at present housed at the Ground Floor.

North East Collection

The LNB Library has a special and rare collection of over 4000 books on North East India which is housed at the Ground Floor.

Theses and Dissertation
The Library has 4579 Theses and Dissertations of various branches of knowledge such as Social Sciences, Natural Sciences including Medical Science and Humanities. Their bibliographical details are accessible through OPAC.
