THE VISION

DUIET complies with the holistic vision of the Dibrugarh University, which is enshrined as:

“The Dibrugarh University shall motivate and strive for the creation of innovative, competent and compassionate human resources for sustainable and holistic development for achieving social harmony and ensuring quality living so that the University remains as a centre of excellence and continues to generate, disseminate and apply new knowledge   and techniques through state of the art education and research in consonance with societal relevance and changing paradigms."

THE MISSION:

This part of our state lacks to a large extent the facilities for imparting quality education and training in the technical field. In 2009 Dibrugarh University, which was established with special emphasis on promoting professional education took upon its shoulder the task of removing this imbalance and decided to create an inspiring environment for learning, research and professional activity in the field of technical education so that our students need not go to far away places to fulfill their dream of acquiring quality technical education and thus Dibrugarh University Institute of Engineering & Technology (DUIET) came into existence in the year 2009. But the vigorous effort to turn our vision into reality is still on.

Our mission is to build up a world-class institute to produce quality engineers with competence, skill and confidence so that they can take active part in our nation building.

THE INSTITUTE:

Dibrugarh University Institute of Engineering and Technology (DUIET) was established in the year 2009 as a constituent institute of the Dibrugarh University. The Institute was established with due approval from the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and necessary permissions from the State Government of Assam.

The first session of the Institute commenced in August, 2009 with an intake capacity of 60 in each of the following disciplines leading to a B. Tech degree.

            i)          Petroleum Engineering

            ii)         Mechanical Engineering

            iii)        Electronics & Communication Engineering

            iv)        Computer Science & Engineering

DUIET situated within the Dibrugarh University campus is located in the town of Dibrugarh in Upper Assam. It has excellent infrastructure facilities. The newly constructed four massive ultra-modern buildings that house the Institute are so elegant looking that you cannot miss them when pass by the nearby highway. Its laboratories are equipped with large number of modern, state of the art equipments and instruments to help the students to be trained in the practical aspects of engineering education. Its computer laboratories house a large number of latest computers with internet facilities. The Institute library houses a large number of books and journals for the benefit of its students.

DUIET has already created a Training and Placement Cell with an experienced Training and Placement Officer to help plan and execute training and placement activities of the Institute. DUIET has gained a synergic effect by accessing the common and central facilities of the University like the Central Library, Health Centre, Canteens & Cafeteria, Sports & Gymnasium. The University provides in-campus hostel facilities for both the girls and boys under the custodian of experienced wardens and support staffs. Construction of two more triple storied hostels exclusively for the use of DUIET students is nearing completion and will be ready for use from the coming academic session starting from August 2012.

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering was started in August, 2009 and is housed in the I.T. Building, DU.  The curriculum for B. Tech Programme in Computer Science & Engineering with 66 courses/188 credits covers core courses in basic sciences, humanities, environmental studies, mathematics and computer science and engineering based courses.

Duration                      :   4 Years (8 semesters)

Intake Capacity           :   60 in First Semester plus 12 in 3rd Semester through Lateral Entry for Diploma-passed

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering was started in August, 2009 and is housed in the newly constructed elegant looking Electronics & Communication Engineering Building just behind the DUIET Core-Building. The curriculum for B. Tech Programme in Electronics & Communication Engineering with 66 courses/188 credits covers core courses in basic sciences, humanities, environmental studies, mathematics and electronics & communication engineering based courses.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was started in August, 2009 and is housed in the newly constructed elegant looking three storied Mechanical Engineering Building. The curriculum for B. Tech programme in Mechanical Engineering with 66 courses/188 credits covers core courses of basic sciences, humanities, environmental studies, mathematics and mechanical engineering based courses.

The Department of Petroleum Engineering was started in August, 2009 and is housed in the modern newly constructed Petroleum Engineering building on the right side of DUIET Core-Building. The curriculum for B. Tech programme in Petroleum Engineering with 66 courses/188 credits covers core courses of basic sciences, humanities, environmental studies, mathematics and petroleum engineering based courses.

Programme Offered  :   B. Tech in Petroleum Engineering

Duration :   4 Years (8 semesters)

Intake Capacity  :   25 in First Semester + 5 in 3rd Semester through Lateral Entry for Diploma-passed and B.Sc. candidates.
